Component Description For Charge Air Temperature Sensor - GF07.04-D-6050HD
ENGINES 651.955/956/957 in MODEL 906
with CODE (XZ1) Model generation 1
with CODE (MZ0) Blue EFFICIENCY
Location
Shown on model 906, view of the engine from the front left below
The charge air temperature sensor sits in the charge air pipe upstream the throttle valve actuator (M16/45).
Task
The charge air temperature sensor detects the charge air temperature and transmits a corresponding voltage signal to the CDI control unit (N3/28).
Input and output signals
Direct output signals
- Change in voltage for charge air temperature determination at the CDI control unit
Design
The charge air temperature sensor consists of a resistance with negative temperature coefficients (NTC) and a 2-pin plug connection.
Function
The NTC resistor installed in the charge air temperature sensor changes its electrical resistance according to the charge air temperature.
The CDI control unit applies a sensor voltage of 5 V and evaluates the charge air temperature according to the signal voltage.
The electrical resistance falls for an NTC resistor as the temperature increases.
