Component Description For The Exhaust Back Pressure Sensor - GF07.04-D-6131HD
ENGINES 651.955/956/957 in MODEL 906
with CODE (XZ1) Model generation 1
with CODE (MZ0) Blue EFFICIENCY
Location
Shown on model 906, view of the engine from the rear
The exhaust back pressure sensor is located on the exhaust return pipe at the rear left.
Task
The exhaust back pressure sensor determines the exhaust back pressure upstream of the turbocharger and passes the change of resistance onto the CDI control unit (N3/28).
The CDI control unit uses this pressure information to protect the turbocharger and engine.
Input and output signals
Direct output signals
- Change in resistance to determine the exhaust back pressure at the CDI control unit
Function
The exhaust back pressure operates over a metallic separating membrane with a tappet on the sensor membrane on which pressure dependent resistors are mounted. A change in resistance occurs due to deflection of the membrane which causes a voltage from which the CDI control unit deduces the prevailing exhaust back pressure.
