Tasks
The advanced sound system amplifier control unit has the following tasks:
- Receive signals
- signal processing
- Transmitting signals
Receive signals
The input factors are read in via:
- Direct lines
- Media Oriented System Transport (MOST)
- Drive train CAN (CAN-C1) (with code 97B (reduction of engine noise via loudspeaker) and code 936 (cylinder deactivation))
Direct lines
The following signals are read in via a direct line:
- Power supply via circuit 30t and circuit 31
- Muting of audio sources (mute function) from the HERMES control unit (N112/9) (with code 360 (HERMES UMTS) or with code 362 (HERMES LTE))
- Electrical wake-up
- Total noise signals in vehicle interior from left front active engine noise compensation microphone, right front active engine noise compensation microphone, left rear active engine noise compensation microphone and from right rear active engine noise compensation microphone for the active engine noise compensation (AMGK) (with code 97B (engine noise reduction via loudspeaker))
Media Oriented System Transport (MOST)
The advanced sound system amplifier control unit is a MOST participant and receives signals from the following components:
- Control and audio signals from the head unit (A26/17), from the TV tuner control unit (N143) (with code 865 (TV tuner)) or from the Rear Seat Entertainment system controller unit (A26/18) (with code 864 (Rear Seat Entertainment System))
- Audio parameters (e.g. volume, sound) from the head unit
- Interior noise level signals from the driver hands-free system microphone (B25/20) and from the front passenger hands-free system microphone (B25/21) via the head unit for the speed-dependent volume control (SDV [GAL])
- Speed signal from head unit, for speed-dependent volume control
- Optical wake-up
Drive train CAN (with code 97B (reduction of engine noise via loudspeaker) and code 936 (cylinder deactivation))
The advanced sound system amplifier control unit receives the engine speed signal via the drive CAN from the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (gasoline engine) for calculation of the active engine noise compensation (N3/10).
signal processing
- Optimization of input signals by means of digital signal processing and high-quality sound optimization algorithms (3D-sound, Surround Sound, Easy Listening, Live)
- Support of stereo and multichannel entertainment channels and announcement channels (e.g. for voice output in voice control system or navigation prompts)
- Amplifying of the input signals and assignment of the output to the speakers
- Detection of disruptive, low-frequency noises at total noise of vehicle interior and generation of acoustic signals for the engine noise reduction
Transmitting signals
The Advanced sound system amplifier control unit emits the audio signals at the following speakers:
- Subwoofer (H4/38) via the subwoofer amplifier (N40/9)
- Left footwell woofer (H4/42) and right footwell woofer (H4/43)
- Left front door tweeter (H4/68) and right front door tweeter (H4/69)
- Left rear door tweeter (H4/70) and right rear door tweeter (H4/71) (Model 222)
- Left front door midrange speaker (H4/72) and right front door midrange speaker (H4/73)
- Center instrument panel tweeter (H4/76) and center instrument panel midrange speaker (H4/78)
- Left rear door midrange speaker (H4/80) and right rear door midrange speaker (H4/81) (Model 222)
- Left front door midrange speaker/woofer (H4/86) and right front door midrange speaker/woofer (H4/87)
- Left rear surround sound system tweeter (H4/92) and right rear surround sound system tweeter (H4/94)
- Left rear surround sound system midrange speaker (H4/93) and right rear surround sound system midrange speaker (H4/95)
- Left rear door midrange speaker/tweeter (H4/98) and right rear door midrange speaker/tweeter (H4/99) (Model 222)
- Left rear sidewall cover midrange speaker/tweeter (H4/100) and right rear sidewall cover midrange speaker/tweeter (H4/101) (Model 217)
- Left rear sidewall cover midrange speaker (H4/102) and right rear sidewall cover midrange speaker (H4/103) (model 217)
- Left rear sidewall cover tweeter (H4/104) and right rear sidewall cover tweeter (H4/105) (model 217)
- Center console tweeter (H4/108) and center console midrange speaker (H4/109) (model 217)
