Media Oriented System Transport (MOST)

The Rear Seat Entertainment system controller unit is a MOST subscriber. The Rear Seat Entertainment system controller unit receives from the COMAND controller unit as a gateway to the telematics CAN (CAN A) the control communication with the left rear display (A40/5) and the right rear display (A40/6) as well as, depending on the request, audio, video, Internet or telephone signals.

Processing signals

The audio and picture signals form the available media sources are processed, and, where necessary converted, and prepared for output.

MOST

The Rear Seat Entertainment system controller unit sends, e.g. the following signals over MOST to the COMAND controller unit

Audio, video, Internet and telephone signals when requested in the telematics network
Control communication for the left rear display and the right rear display (gateway to telematics CAN)
Seat adjustments (comfort functions, equipment-specific) for seats in rear (gateway to user interface CAN (CAN HMI))

Structure

The Rear Seat Entertainment system controller unit is equipped with 2 integrated Kleer® radio interfaces as well as an integrated DVD drive.

The DVD drive is a single-slot drive. In addition to DVD Video and audio media, CD audio media and MP3 files can also be played.

Furthermore, media protected by the latest copy protection systems and recorded blanks (CD R/RW; DVD-R, DVD-RW; DVD+R,

DVD+RW) can be played. The DVD drive has a "DVD Disk Auto Detect" function.
