Media Oriented System Transport (MOST)
The sound system amplifier control unit is a MOST participant and receives signals from the following components:

- Control and audio signals from model year 2018 from TV tuner control unit (N143) or up to model year 2018 tuner unit (A90/4) (with code 536 (SIRIUS satellite radio), with code 537 (Digital radio) or with code 865 (TV tuner))
- Audio parameters (e.g. volume, sound) from model year 2018 from head unit up to model year 2018 from COMAND controller unit
- Interior noise level signals from the driver hands-free system microphone from model year 2018 (B25/20) and from the front passenger hands-free system microphone (B25/21) via the head unit for the speed-dependent volume control (SDV [GAL]) Interior noise level signals up to model year 2018 from hands-free system microphone (A67b1) via COMAND controller unit, for the speed-dependent volume control (SDV [GAL])
- Speed signal from model year 2018 from the head unit, for the speed-dependent volume control (SDV [GAL])
- Speed signal up to model year 2018 from the COMAND controller unit, for the speed-dependent volume control (SDV [GAL])
Drive train CAN (CAN-C1) (with code 97B (reduction of engine noise via loudspeaker) and code 936 (cylinder deactivation))
The sound system amplifier control unit receives the engine speed signal via the drive CAN from the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (gasoline engine) for calculation of the active engine noise compensation (N3/10).
signal processing
- Optimization of input signals by means of digital signal processing and surround sound
- Support of stereo and multichannel entertainment channels and announcement channels (e.g. for voice output in voice control system or navigation prompts)
- Detection of disruptive, low-frequency noises at total noise of vehicle interior and generation of acoustic signals for the engine noise reduction
- Amplifying of the input signals and assignment of the output to the speakers
Transmitting signals
The sound system amplifier control unit transmits signal tones and amplified, optimized audio signals to the following speakers via direct lines:
- Center instrument panel speaker (H4/27)
- Left footwell woofer (H4/42)
- Right footwell woofer (H4/43)
- Left rear midrange speaker for surround sound system (H4/62)
- Right rear midrange speaker for surround sound system (H4/63)
- Left front door midrange speaker (H4/72) and left front door tweeter (H4/68)
- Right front door midrange speaker (H4/73) and right front door tweeter (H4/69)
- Left rear door midrange speaker (H4/80) and left rear door tweeter (H4/70 (model 222)
- Right rear door midrange speaker (H4/81) and right rear door tweeter (H4/71 (model 222)
- Left rear sidewall cover midrange speaker (H4/102) and left rear sidewall cover tweeter (H4/104) (model 217)
- Right rear sidewall cover midrange speaker (H4/103) and right rear sidewall cover tweeter (H4/105) (model 217)
For vehicles with code 97B (engine noise reduction via loudspeaker), the advanced sound system amplifier control unit sends acoustic signals for a counter-noise output of the active engine noise compensation to the following loudspeakers:
- Left footwell woofer
- Right footwell woofer
- Active engine noise compensation subwoofer (H4/29)
Function
The sound system amplifier control unit will be actuated from model year 2018 via the head unit and up to model year 2018 via the COMAND controller unit. The head unit or COMAND controller unit also provides all menus for user guidance. Updates and diagnosis communication also take place via the head unit or COMAND controller unit.
For the optimized SDV [GAL], the sound system amplifier control unit evaluates the speed signal and noise level in the vehicle interior from model year 2018 via the driver hands-free system microphone and, up to model year 2018, via the hands-free system microphone.
For the AMGK, the sound system amplifier control unit detects disruptive, low-frequency noises at the overall noise of the vehicle interior from the engine speed and the microphone signals.
