Location
The sound system amplifier control unit with code 811 (Advanced sound system) is shown in the picture at the bottom right, and it is located in the trunk on the left behind the paneling on a major assembly carrier.
Tasks
The sound system amplifier control unit has the following tasks:
- Receive signals
- Signal optimization and amplification
- Transmitting signals
Receive signals
The sound system amplifier control unit receives the following signals:
- Voltage supply
- Muting of the audio sources (from the emergency call system control unit (N123/4) (with code 348 (Emergency call/assist system))
- Muting of the audio sources (from the HERMES control unit (N112/9) (with code 351 (Emergency call system (HERMES)))
- Visual and electrical wake-up
- Control and audio signals over the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) from the COMAND controller unit (A40/3), from the Rear Seat Entertainment system controller unit (A26/18) (with code 864 (Rear Seat Entertainment system)) or from the tuner unit (A90/4) (with code 536 (SIRIUS satellite radio), with code 537 (Digital radio (DAB)) or with code 865 (TV tuner))
- Signals of the interior noise level from the hands-free system microphone (A67b1) via MOST from the COMAND control unit, for speed-dependent volume control (SDV)
- Speed signal via MOST from the COMAND control unit, for SDV
Signal optimization and amplification
- Optimization of input signals by means of digital signal processing and high-quality sound optimization algorithms (Surround Sound, Easy Listening, Live, 3D sound)
- Support of stereo and multichannel entertainment channels and announcement channels (e.g. for voice output in voice control system or navigation prompts)
- Amplifying of the input signals and assignment of the output to the speakers
Transmitting signals
The sound system amplifier control unit sends electrical signals to the following components for audio output:
- Left footwell woofer (H4/42)
- Right footwell woofer (H4/43)
- Left front door tweeter (H4/68)
