Location 

The multicontour seat control unit is located at the bottom, in the backrest frame of the respective rear seat.

Tasks 

The multicontour seat control unit does the following:

• Inflating and deflating the multicontour backrests
• Control of massage function through the left rear seat massage function control unit (N32/33) or the right rear seat massage function control unit (N32/34)
• Adjusting the stored pressure values when calling up the memory feature and storing the contours
• Shutoff of the respective function if the pressure valve responsible has overheated

The tasks are subdivided as follows:

• Read in sensors and signals 
• Evaluation of input factors 
• Actuation of components 

Read in sensors and signals 

The multicontour seat control unit reads in the input factors via the interior CAN (CAN B).

The signals that are read in include the following:

• Air cushion adjustment request
• Massage function request
• Request for storing/moving to memory position
• PRE-SAFE® adjustment request

Evaluation of input factors 

The input factors read in are evaluated by the multicontour seat control unit. The air cushions of the contour insert are inflated and deflated through valves in the multicontour seat control unit.

Actuation of components 

The actuation of the components takes place via the following connections:

• Massage components LIN (LIN B26) 
• Interior CAN 

Massage components LIN 

The multicontour seat control unit controls the following component parts via the massage component LIN:

• Left rear seat massage function control unit
• Right rear seat massage function control unit

The air cushions in the contour insert are inflated and deflated through valves in the massage function control unit.

Interior CAN 

The signals sent by the multicontour seat control unit via the interior CAN include the following:

• Compressed air supply request
• "Hot-Stone" request

Variants 

There are no hardware variants for the multicontour seat control unit. The assignment for left rear seat or right rear seat and the country or left-hand/right-hand drive vehicle assignment are also coded by the software.
