Model 172.4
as of Model year 2017
with code 239 (DISTRONIC PLUS)
With the ADAPTIVE Brake premium system, the data from the turn rate, lateral acceleration and longitudinal acceleration sensor (B24/15) is read in by the Electronic Stability Program control unit via the vehicle dynamics CAN.
Model 172.4
as of Model year 2017
except code 239 (DISTRONIC PLUS)
With the ADAPTIVE Brake basic system, the turn rate, lateral acceleration and longitudinal acceleration sensor is integrated in the Electronic Stability Program control unit, thereby making a CAN connection to an external turn rate, lateral acceleration and longitudinal acceleration sensor unnecessary. The data for turn rate, lateral acceleration and longitudinal acceleration is therefore collected and evaluated directly by the Electronic Stability Program control unit.
The Electronic Stability Program control unit has the following tasks:
- Reading in of signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Actuation of components
Reading in of signals
The input factors are read in over the following connections:
- Direct line
- Chassis CAN 1 (CAN E1)
- Vehicle dynamics CAN (CAN H)
Direct line
The following signals are read in via direct lines:
- Circuit 30
- Circuit 31
- Brake vacuum sensor (B64/1) (with CODE B03 (ECO start/stop function))
- Brake lights switch (S9/1)
- Left front axle RPM sensor (L6/1)
- Right front axle RPM sensor (L6/2)
- Left rear axle RPM sensor (L6/3)
- Right rear axle RPM sensor (L6/4)
Chassis CAN 1
The Electronic Stability Program control unit is a subscriber of chassis CAN 1 and communicates with the following control units:
- Instrument cluster (A1)
- Supplemental Restraint System control unit (N2/10)
- CDI control unit (with diesel engine) (N3/9)
- ME-SFI [ME] control unit (with gasoline engine) (N3/10)
- Front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1)
- Rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2)
- DIRECT SELECT INTERFACE (N150) (with code 421 (9G-TRONIC))
- Upper control panel control unit (N72/1)
- Electronic ignition lock control unit (N73)
- Steering column tube module control unit (N80)
- Electric parking Brake control unit (N128)
- Fully integrated transmission control unit (Y3/8n4) (with automatic transmission)
Vehicle dynamics CAN
Signals are read in via the vehicle dynamics CAN from the following components:
- Turn rate, lateral acceleration and longitudinal acceleration sensor (with code 239 (DISTRONIC PLUS))
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor whereupon the required components are then actuated.
Actuation of components
Components are actuated with the following line:
- Direct line
Direct line
The following components are actuated via direct lines:
- Rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (Brake light actuation)
- Traction system hydraulic unit
- Speed-sensitive power steering solenoid valve (Y10)
