General
The windshield heater control unit receives the request to operate the windshield heater and passes this onto the windshield heater.
Function requirements
- Engine running or drive train operational.
Function
The request to operate the windshield heater is realized, among other things, via:
- The touchscreen (via a CAN connection)
- The rain and light sensor with additional function (via a LIN connection)
- The outside temperature sensor
- The electronic ignition lock control unit (via an ETHERNET connection)
- The air conditioning control panel (via a LIN connection)
The corresponding request is then forwarded in a vehicle-dependent manner to the climate control, control unit or the front signal acquisition and actuation module control unit.
The windshield heater control unit receives these requests to operate the windshield heater in a vehicle-dependent manner from the climate control, control unit or from the front signal acquisition and actuation module control unit via a LIN connection.
The supply voltage is converted by the windshield heater control unit and the windshield heater accordingly actuated.
In addition, the windshield heater control unit monitors the function of the windshield heater and transmits corresponding basic data (e.g. power consumption, temperature or short circuit of windshield heater) via a LIN connection in a vehicle-dependent manner to the climate control, control unit or the front signal acquisition and actuation module control unit.
