General
The function description on visibility, windshields, and windows addresses functions relating to clear visibility through the windows and in the outside mirrors.
Function
The functions associated with visibility, panes and windows include the "Heat rear window" function, the "Wash and wipe windshield" function and the "Inside rearview mirror and outside mirror" functions.
Functions that can protect the rear passengers from excessive exposure to sunlight and from being seen, for example, are also included.
The functions are triggered by the vehicle occupants themselves as well as automatically started. The corresponding situations are detected by sensors, these pass on the information to the control units to ultimately actuate the required component parts (such as the rain sensor that actuates the windshield wiper).
The function-triggering component parts are, in this connection, usually connected via a LIN connection with a control unit that passes on the information via CAN connections.
The functions have, on the one hand, a comfort function and, on the other hand, also a safety-relevant element as a clear view is essential for safe driving.
