Overview

This document contains information on:

General

Various functions can be selected using the control elements (2 to 11) on the upper control panel control unit (1), e.g. the stationary heater, volume adjustment or switch-on/switch-off of the head unit.

Indicators can also be located in the upper control panel control unit (1), e.g. for the switching off of the front passenger airbag or the anti-theft alarm system (ATA).

Depending on the vehicle model, the upper control panel control unit (1) may be located in the center of the bottom section of the instrument panel.

Function requirements

Function

The type, location and number of control elements and indicators in the upper control panel control unit (1) vary depending on the model and equipment.

The buttons on telematics unit version NTG 7, with the exception of the hazard warning light system button, are designed to be touch-sensitive.

Depending on the model, the fingerprint sensor button (7) and the display angle button are located in the upper control panel control unit (1).

On vehicles with NTG 7, the upper control panel control unit (1) is connected to the vehicle's network architecture.

Mercedes-Benz is introducing so-called native in-CAR payments with the new "Mercedes pay +" digital payment service. For native in-CAR payment, the vehicle, even in conjunction with the fingerprint sensor, enables biometric two-factor authentication. It is no longer necessary to enter a PIN on the MBUX Infotainment system or to release payment via an additional mobile device such as a smartphone. Visa Cloud tokens offer an additional layer of security in this process, since they protect and encrypt sensitive payment information by converting and storing data securely. To be able to use "Mercedes pay +", a VISA payment card must be connected to the vehicle.
