Remove/Install High Temperature Circuit Coolant Temperature Sensor - AR07.04-P-2717MFG

Engine 139 in model 118, 177, 247

WARNING Risk of injury  to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing coolant. Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the overpressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Drain off coolant. INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Only install lower engine compartment paneling after leak test. AR20.00-P-1142MFG
2 Remove the throttle valve actuator. INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Do not install upper engine cover until after the leak test. AR07.51-P-1404MFG 
3 Remove electrical connector (1) from the coolant line (6).    
4 Release and disconnect electrical connectors (2).    
5 Remove vacuum line (3) from bracket (4).    
6 Remove electrical wiring harness (5) from the coolant line (6) and place to one side.    
7 Release and disconnect coolant line (6) and, seal exposed openings with suitable stop plugs.   AR20.20-P-7441-01RQ

8 Remove coolant line (6) and seal openings with suitable stop plugs.   AR20.20-P-7471-01MFG
    INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace sealing ring. Install new hose and clamps.  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Clamp, coolant pump to coolant hose/coolant line *BA20.10-P-1016-01AC 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw, coolant pump to coolant hose/coolant line *BA20.10-P-1009-01AC 
    SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Fig 2
9 Remove coolant line (7) and seal openings with suitable stop plugs.   AR20.20-P-7471-01MFG
    INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace sealing rings.
Install new hose and clamps.
 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Clamp, coolant pump to coolant hose/coolant line *BA20.10-P-1016-01AC 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw, coolant line to coolant pipe/cylinder head/crankcase/coolant thermostat/coolant hose/timing case *BA20.10-P-1008-01AC 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw, coolant pump to coolant hose/coolant line *BA20.10-P-1009-01AC 
    SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Fig 2
10 Release and disconnect electrical connector (8).    
11 Release and disconnect electrical connector (11).    
12 Remove clamp (9).    
13 Remove high-temperature circuit coolant temperature sensor (B94/19) and seal opening with a suitable stop plug. INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace sealing ring.

14 Install in the reverse order.    
15 Read out and delete fault memory.    
DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-06MFA
WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
16 Perform engine test run. While doing so, check engine for proper operation and leak tightness.    
17 Install lower engine compartment lining.   AR61.20-P-1105MFR
18 Install upper engine cover.
