Remove/Install Steering Column Module Control Unit - AR54.25-P-2802MFA

Model 118, 177, 243, 247

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove steering wheel.   AR46.10-P-0100MFA
    INSTALLATION IMPORTANT After installation of a new steering column tube module control unit (N80), transport protection must be broken off before installing the steering wheel.  
2 Remove steering column tube module control unit (N80) from steering column tube (4) until cover (3) can be unclipped. INSTALLATION IMPORTANT When the installation position of the steering column tube module control unit (N80) is correct, the assembly indicator is retracted.  
3 Unclip cover (3) from steering column tube module control unit (N80).    
4 Remove steering column tube module control unit (N80) from steering column tube (4) until the electrical connector (1) and retaining clip (2) are accessible. NOTES
Do not crush or kink or subject electric lines to tension.
This will result in damage to the electric lines and can impair their function.
NOTES
Do not operate red safety catches in steering column tube module control unit (N80).
Clock spring contact will otherwise be destroyed.
IMPORTANT The steering column tube module control unit (N80) contains the clock spring contact, the steering angle sensor and the switch panel. It is one component and can only be removed or replaced complete.
 
5 Unclip retaining clip (2). SPECIAL TOOL Dismantling tool Fig 2
6 Remove actuator lock of electrical connector (1). INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace actuator lock of electrical connector (1).  
7 Release electrical connector (1), disconnect, and remove steering column tube module control unit (N80).    
8 Install in the reverse order.    
  Concluding tasks     
9 Carry out commissioning of steering column tube module control unit (N80). If the steering column tube module control unit (N80) has been replaced.

10 Carry out initialization of DISTRONIC electric controller unit. Model 118, 177, 243, 247
with code 239 (Adaptive cruise control Pro (DISTRONIC PRO))
If the steering column tube module control unit (N80) has been replaced.
