Location
Depending on the model, the DC/DC converter control unit is located in the left underbody or underneath the load compartment.
Task
The DC/DC converter control unit consists of an output unit (power electronics) and a logic section (signal electronics). The output unit supplies the 12 V on-board electrical system from the high-voltage on-board electrical system. It is not possible for energy to flow from the 12 V on-board electrical system into the high-voltage on-board electrical system. The logic section is responsible for communication with other control units and for actuation of the output unit.
The DC/DC converter control unit has an integrated distributor unit which supplies various high-voltage consumers, depending on the model.
The DC/DC converter control unit is connected to the vehicle's network architecture.
The DC/DC converter control unit also processes the following information:
- Circuit status
- DC/DC converter mode request
- High-voltage output voltage/output current request
- Low-voltage output voltage/output current request
- High-voltage battery voltage
- Voltage, 12 V on-board electrical system battery
The DC/DC converter control unit processes these input factors and also sends the following information:
- High-voltage output voltage/output current
- Low-voltage output voltage/output current
- DC/DC converter mode
- DC/DC converter status
- Available output power
- Fault messages
