General
The DC/DC converter control unit regulates energy exchange between the 12 V on-board electrical system and the 48 V on-board electrical system.
It is connected to the vehicle's network architecture.
Location
Depending on the vehicle model and equipment, the DC/DC converter control unit together with the 48 V battery is located as a power pack either in the engine compartment or the vehicle interior.
Function requirements
- Circuit 30t ON
- Circuit 30c ON
Function
The DC/DC converter control unit consists of an output unit and a logic section. The output unit connects the 12 V on-board electrical system to the 48 V on-board electrical system, and it enables energy to be transferred in both directions. The logic section is responsible for communication with other control units and for actuation of the output unit.
The DC/DC converter control unit is networked with the 48 V battery.
The DC/DC converter control unit also processes the following information:
- Circuit status
- Engine running status
- Starter-alternator status
- Starter-alternator voltage actual value
- Starter-alternator current actual value
- Charging voltage specified value
- On-board electrical system battery voltage actual value
- Battery current switch status
- Vehicle speed
- Status of driver door (open or closed)
The DC/DC converter control unit processes these input factors and also sends the following information:
- Operating rate of DC/DC converter
- DC/DC converter current
- Temperature of DC/DC converter
- State of charge of 48 V battery
- Temperature of 48 V battery
- Current of 48 V battery
- Voltage at 48 V battery
