Location
The powertrain control unit is mounted in the vehicle interior on the partition to the engine compartment.
Tasks
The powertrain control unit acts as the interface between the ME-SFI control unit (N3/10) and the CAN network, and it is responsible for the following tasks:
- Reading in of signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Output of signals and activation of components
The electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) is the central gateway for exchanging the function-relevant data of the control units that are connected to the various CAN bus systems.
Reading in of signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Engine CAN (CAN C)
- Drive train CAN (CAN C1)
- Hybrid CAN (CAN L) (model 213.050/053/054/253 or with code B01 (48V technology))
- Periphery CAN (CAN PER)
- Suspension FlexRay (Flex E)
- Drive-train LIN (LIN C3)
- Exhaust LIN (LIN C4)
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.
