REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Shift transmission (5) to neutral position    
2 Release parking brake    
3 Secure vehicle on vehicle lift Transmission 725.0 (except 725.09) in model 217, 222 with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/allwheel drive) AR00.60-P-0100CW
    Transmission 725.0 in model 218 with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/allwheel drive)
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Only release vehicle after leak test from vehicle lift.		 AR00.60-P-0100EWS
4.1 Remove center and rear bottom section of soundproofing Transmission 725.0 in model 218 with engine 642 with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/allwheel drive)

    INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Install center and rear bottom section of soundproofing only after leak test.  
4.2 Remove center and rear sections of lower engine compartment lining Transmission 725.0 (except 725.09) in model 217, 222
with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/allwheel drive)

5 Remove holder of rear lower section of soundproofing or rear lower engine compartment lining

    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, vibration damper to transfer case *BA28.10-P-1008-01G 
12 Lower the transmission (5) until all bolts (6) around the circumference of the transfer case (7) are accessible    
13 Support transfer case (7)    
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 10 62 00 Support plate   WS26.00-P-3309B
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 11 62 00 Major assembly mount   WS01.00-P-0092B
14 Unscrew screws/bolts (6) and remove transfer case (7) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT The marking on the output flange gearing must line up exactly with the marking on the propeller shaft on the front axle (4).
IMPORTANT A second person is required for disconnection and connection at the flange of the propeller shaft on the front axle (4).
 		  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, transfer case to automatic transmission *BA28.10-P-1001-01G 
15 Check intermediate panel (8) for damage If damage is present
↓
Replace intermediate panel (8).		  
16 Install in the reverse order    
17 Check transmission oil level and correct if necessary Transmission 725.0 (except 725.06/09) in model 217, 218, 222
with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/allwheel drive)		 AR28.10-P-0100-06A 
    FLUID SPECIFICATION Transfer case oil *BF28.10-P-1001-01F 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Oil level sight glass to transfer case *BA28.10-P-1007-01G 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Drain screw to transfer case *BA28.10-P-1003-01G 
    Assembly cleaner *BR00.45-Z-1028-04A 
    SPECIAL TOOL Hand pump Fig 1
WARNING Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
18 Conduct engine test run and check transfer case (7) for proper operation and leak tightness    
19.1 Install center and rear bottom section of soundproofing Transmission 725.0 in model 218 with engine 642 with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/allwheel drive)
