Location
The drive unit control unit is installed in the right footwell.
Tasks
The drive unit control unit coordinates the transmission modes.
The following transmission modes can be selected:
- "C" (Comfort)
- "S" (Sport)
- "S+" (Sport+)
- "Race" (Race) only for models 213.089/289
- "I*" (Individual)
Representation in Audio/COMAND display (A40/8)
The transmission modes, as well as the representation of the all-wheel visualization, are shown in the Audio/COMAND display.
For vehicles from model J. 2018 and with code 466 (active engine mount) or/and code 467 (electronic locking differential), the drive unit control unit additionally reads in signals from various sensors via the CAN network, and uses them to calculate the specified status of the active engine mount and the locking ratio of the electronic differential lock. The Drive Unit control unit sends the "Specified status of mounts" signal via the AMG CAN (CAN AMG) to the active engine mount control unit (N3/42), which actuates the active engine mounts. To actuate the electronic differential lock, the drive unit control unit transmits the "locking ratio of electronic differential lock" signal via the AMG CAN to the electric differential lock control unit (N3/2).
Coding
The drive unit control unit can be coded and programmed, i. e., the complete control unit software can be updated.
CAN network
The drive unit control unit is a participant of the following CAN network and exchanges data with other control units:
- AMG CAN
- Drive train CAN (CAN C1)
- User interface CAN (CAN HMI)
Suspension FlexRay (Flex E)
The drive unit control unit is a participant of the suspension FlexRay and exchanges data with other control units.
Input and output signals
The following input signals are evaluated by the drive unit control unit and the corresponding output signals issued:
- Direct input/output signals
- CAN input/output signals
- Chassis FlexRay
