DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove engine air intake duct (1).    
2 Unclip center hood contact switch (S62) from the hood catch, unhook hood cable, and place to one side.   AR88.40-P-3201MFA 
3 Remove screws (5).    
4 Remove screws (7) on the right and left and remove brackets (8) on the right and left.    
5 Disconnect electrical connector (9) from the left frontal acceleration sensor (B48/1) and from the right frontal acceleration sensor (B48/2).   AR91.60-P-0750MFA
6 Expose electrical wiring harness (10).    
7 Remove front wheel and tire assembly.   AR40.10-P-1102MFA
8 Remove bottom engine compartment lining (21). Model 247.6 (except 247.651), 247.7 (except 247.751/753/754) with engine 260 with code M016 (Uprated engine) AR61.20-P-1105MFR
    Model 247.6 (except 247.651), 247.7 (except 247.751/753/754) with engine 260 except code M016 (Uprated engine) Model 247.6 (except 247.651), 247.7 (except 247.751/753/754) with engine 282 AR61.20-P-1105MFA

9 Remove front section of the right and left fender liner.   AR88.10-P-1301MFA 
10 Unscrew screws (13, 17).    
11 Remove cover (11, 15).    
12 Remove screws (19).    
13 Remove expansion rivets (12, 16). IMPORTANT The number can vary depending on the model and equipment.

14 Remove front engine compartment lining (20).    
15 Remove screws (2). INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Tighten screws (2) only after adjusting gap dimensions.  
16 Remove washer fluid reservoir (22) and fasten to the vehicle free of tension with connected lines.   AR82.35-P-6000MFA
17 Release and disconnect electrical connector (23).    
18 Release and disconnect electrical connector (24). Model 247.6 (except 247.651), 247.7 (except 247.751/753/754)
with code 501 (360° camera)
 
19 Remove stationary heater unit (A6) with the bracket, place to one side with connected lines, and secure against falling down. Model 247.6 (except 247.651), 247.7 (except 247.751/753/754)
with code 228 (Additional warm water heating)

20 Remove retaining clip (26) from the longitudinal member.    
21 Remove retaining clip (27) from the mounting support (28).    
22 Release and disconnect electrical connector (30).    
23 Release and disconnect electrical connector (31).    
24 Release and disconnect electrical connector (32). Model 247.6 (except 247.651), 247.7 (except 247.751/753/754)
with code U60 (Pedestrian protection - Active hood)
 
25 Remove retaining clip (33) from the crossmember (34).    
26 Place electrical wiring harness (29) to one side and fasten.    
27 Unclip left and right wheel arch liner (35) from the bumper (4). SPECIAL TOOL Long wedge Fig 1
28 Remove screws (36) from the bumper (4).    
29 Release and disconnect electrical connector (37). Model 247.6 (except 247.651), 247.7 (except 247.751/753/754)
with code U60 (Pedestrian protection - Active hood)
 
30 Release and disconnect electrical connector (38).    
31 Release and disconnect electrical connector (39).    
32 Unscrew screw (40). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, assembly carrier at bottom to mounting support *BA62.30-P-1008-02O 
33 Release and disconnect electrical connector (41) from the front left lamp unit (E1).    
34 Remove bolts (42). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, impact absorber/mounting support to longitudinal member *BA62.30-P-1002-02O 
35 Release and disconnect electrical connector (43) from the front right lamp unit (E2).    
36 Remove screws (44) from the bumper (4).    
37 Remove screw (45). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, assembly carrier at bottom to mounting support *BA62.30-P-1008-02O 
38 Remove bolts (46). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, impact absorber/mounting support to longitudinal member *BA62.30-P-1002-02O 
39 Remove front module from the vehicle and place on a suitable base. IMPORTANT Aid of helper required.
Remove front module with the bumper (4), crossmember (34), front left lamp unit (E1), and front right lamp unit (E2).
 
40 Install in the reverse order.    
41 Check gap dimensions on the bumper (4) and adjust if necessary.   AR60.00-P-0700-01MFA

    HAND-HELD TESTER Headlamp to fender *BE60.00-P-1005-01MA

42 Check headlamp adjustment and correct if necessary.
