General
The climate control of the vehicle interior can be controlled using the air conditioning control panel. The air conditioning control panel consists of a housing as well as various control elements (1 to 15) and other electronic component parts that are responsible for various things, such as signal transmission.
The location and number of control elements (1 to 15) on the air conditioning control panel will differ depending on the model and equipment involved.
The air conditioning control panel (depending on model) is located in the center of the lower section of the instrument panel.

Function
The climate control functions are operated using control elements (1 to 15) on the air conditioning control panel or the multimedia system depending on the model and equipment installed. Depending on the model, the air conditioning nozzles can be operated using a single button next to the respective nozzle.
In the 4-zone version or 5-zone version of air conditioning systems, a rear climate control operating unit is also used. This is located in the rear of the center console between the front seats.
Depending on the equipment, a central rear control device (e.g. touchscreen or tablet PC) may be used instead of the rear climate control operating unit.
Operating a control element (1 to 15) on the air conditioning control panel sends a signal from the operating unit to the signal acquisition and actuation module.
The air conditioning control panel is connected to the signal acquisition and actuation module via a LIN bus.
The signal acquisition and actuation module then forwards the request to the affected component parts (e.g. actuator motors).
The 3rd seat row (for the 5-zone version) has no separate operating unit and is operated via the multimedia system.
