Model all (CAR)
Overview
This document contains information on:
- General
- Function
General
The steering column tube module control unit controls the data exchange between the controls on the multifunction steering wheel and the steering column with the corresponding control units.
Function
The steering column tube module control unit is connected to the network architecture of the vehicle. Depending on the model involved, the steering column tube module control unit is networked with the steering wheel electronics.
To implement the functions, the steering column tube module control unit processes information including the following:
- Circuit status
- Engine running status
- Interior temperature
- Displayed outside temperature
- Operation request via multifunction steering wheel
- Steering wheel heater request (vehicles with steering wheel heater)
- Steering wheel heater temperature (vehicles with steering wheel heater)
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated. The steering column tube module control unit also sends the following information:
- Status of steering wheel angle sensor
- Steering wheel angle, steering wheel velocity
- Operation request via multifunction steering wheel
- Operation request via combination switch
- Status of DIRECT SELECT lever (vehicles with transmission 724, 725)
- Status of steering column tube adjustment lever (vehicles with memory package)
- Status of steering wheel heater (vehicles with steering wheel heater)
