General
The steering column adjustment is available in combination with an electrically adjustable driver's seat with memory function. This enables various steering column positions to be adjusted and stored. The easy entry and exit function allows the driver to get in and out of the vehicle easily. The steering column is adjusted and the current position of the steering column is stored by the driver seat control unit.
Function
Normalizing
Normalization is the basis for assigning the current position of the steering column. The position of the steering column is recorded by the driver seat control unit. Normalization takes place during commissioning or in a denormalized state. For this purpose, the steering column's front and top mechanical end stop must be moved to. During initial startup, normalization takes place using XENTRY Diagnosis COM Kit.
After denormalization, normalization takes place using the adjustment function. To do so, continue to press and hold down the steering column adjustment switch for a short moment after reaching the mechanical end stops. Normalization resets the location counter in the driver's seat control unit to zero. During steering column adjustments, the driver seat control unit records the adjustment range of the steering column through a Hall sensor.
Adjust steering column
The "Adjust steering column" function makes it possible to adjust the steering column into various positions.
The steering column is adjusted by operating the steering column adjustment switch. Actuation takes place as long as the steering column adjustment switch is operated or until an end position is reached.
Save position of steering column
The current position of the steering column can be stored together with the position of the driver seat and the outside mirrors. It is stored using the left front seat adjustment switch group.
Call up stored position of steering column
To move to a stored position, the corresponding switch 1, 2 or 3 must be pressed until the stored position of the steering column is reached. Releasing the switch causes the adjustment procedure to be aborted immediately.
