Location
The trunk lid/tailgate control drive unit is located on the left in the trunk between the hinge bracket and fender.

Location
Depending on the design version, the trunk lid/liftgate control drive unit is installed either in the area of the D-pillar on the roof frame or instead on one or both of the pneumatic springs.
For vehicles with a large and thus comparatively heavy liftgate, two liftgate control drive units are installed instead of the pneumatic springs.
Special design considerations can also lead to two liftgate control drive units being required instead of the pneumatic springs.

The trunk lid/tailgate control drive unit moves the trunk lid or tailgate.
