General
Several drive programs and operating modes are available to the user for changing the properties of the operating status.
Function requirements
- Circuit 15 ON
Function
Transmission modes
The user can switch between the drive programs using the DYNAMIC SELECT switch. The powertrain control unit implements the selected drive program.
The letter of the selected drive program is shown in the multimedia display. The drive program active the next time the engine is started depends on the settings in the multimedia system.
Depending on the transmission mode selected, the following vehicle characteristics are changed:
- Drive
- Suspension (equipment-dependent)
- Steering
- Driving dynamics control
| Transmission mode | Driving style | Properties |
|---|---|---|
| I (Individual) | - | Individual setting of the vehicle properties by the user. |
| Sport (S) | Sporty | Sporty driving style with combustion engine; Intensified boost effect: No electric-only mode possible. |
| C (Comfort) | NORMAL | Comfort program for a compromise between fuel consumption and operating energy input; Electric-only mode possible: Selection of the appropriate drive type via the hybrid system depending on the driving situation and driving distance. |
| EL (Electric) | Electrical | Electric-only mode; Adjustable recuperation: It is possible to activate the combustion engine via the accelerator pedal. |
| H (Hybrid) | NORMAL | Comfortable and consumption-optimized driving with all automatic hybrid functions. |
| BL (Battery Level) | Sparing | Selection of the appropriate drive type via the hybrid system depending on the driving situation and distance: The optimization objective is to conserve the charge level of the high-voltage battery. |
| B (Battery Hold) | Sparing | Maintaining the charge level of the high-voltage battery has priority. |
| E (Eco) | Defensive | Economy program for maximum fuel saving; Electric mode as frequently as possible: Selection of the appropriate drive type via the hybrid system depending on the driving situation and driving distance. |
| Off-road (model-dependent) | Light terrain | For driving in light terrain; Combustion engine always stays switched on: No electric mode possible. |
Activating the sound generator
Vehicles with acoustic presence indicator
Electric drive is very quiet at low speeds. Because pedestrians and bike riders are used to the sound of conventional drives, it is easy for them not to hear all-electrically driven vehicles. To prevent dangers resulting from this, the sound generators generate an artificial noise as a warning.
Depending on the accelerator pedal position, speed-dependent noise is emitted via the sound generator and rear sound generator at speeds of between 0 and 30 km/h. At speeds greater than 30 km/h, the sound generators are deactivated because the rolling and wind noise are loud enough.
