DANGER Risk of fire  due to ignition of R1234yf refrigerant on hot components. Risk of poisoning  caused by inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Risk of injury  to skin and eyes caused by contact with escaped R1234yf refrigerant and when working on pressurized parts. Risk of explosion  due to formation of ignitable refrigerant/air mixtures Never perform welding work on or near a closed air conditioning system. No smoking or open flames. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated rooms. Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been evacuated. WARNING Risk of injury  to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing coolant. Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the overpressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove upper radiator shutters. Engine 256.9 in model 167
with code 9U7 (Aerodynamic measure package control code)

2 Remove air duct segment (3).    
3 Discharge air conditioning system.   AR83.30-P-1760ME
4 Remove fan unit.   AR20.40-P-5050MSC 
5 Remove brackets (2).    
6 Unclip side air duct segments from radiator unit (1).    
7 Drain off coolant.   AR20.00-P-1142MSC 
8 Remove coolant hoses from radiator unit (1) and seal with protective covers.   AR20.20-P-7441-01RQ

9 Remove bleed lines from radiator unit (1) and seal with protective covers.   AR20.20-P-7441-01RQ

10 Remove refrigerant lines at condenser and place to one side, seal openings with suitable stop plugs. INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Install new sealing rings.
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, refrigerant line to condenser

    SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Fig 4
11 Release and disconnect electrical connector of refrigerant pressure sensor (B12/2), unclip line from radiator unit (1).   AR83.30-P-5430OID
12 Remove cross strut (4). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut/screw, lower crossmember to radiator unit mounting support *BA62.30-P-1006-02I 
13 Secure radiator unit (1) against falling down.    
14 Remove coolant lines (5) from mounting supports (6).    
15 Remove mounting supports (6). INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Ensure lower elastomer bearings of radiator unit (1) are seated centrally.
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw, radiator unit mounting support to front crossmember

16 Release radiator unit (1) and remove downward. IMPORTANT To prevent damage, remove cooler unit (1) carefully.
IMPORTANT Aid of helper required.
IMPORTANT Radiator unit (1) consists of additional cooler, radiator, condenser and radiator low-temperature circuit.
 
17 Check radiator unit (1) for damage. If damage is present

Replace corresponding component.
 
18 Check lower elastomer bearings of radiator unit (1) for wear and damage. If damage is present

Replace lower elastomer bearings
 
19 Install in the reverse order.
