General
The powertrain control unit serves as an interface (gateway) between the combustion engine control unit, the ESP® control unit and the connected bus systems.
Function
The powertrain control unit primarily intervenes in the following functions:
- Engine management
- Heat management
In order to carry out these functions, the powertrain control unit primarily processes the following input factors:
- Engine management ON (circuit 87)
- Charge air cooler coolant temperature
- Fan motor status
- Accelerator pedal sensor
- Start/stop button
- With manual transmission: Clutch travel sensor
- With manual transmission: Main shifter shaft position sensor
The powertrain control unit processes these input factors and controls the following actuators depending on the engine variants:
- Exhaust flap controller
- Fan motor
- Radiator trim flap actuator motor
- Transmission oil cooling coolant circulation pump
- Charge air cooler circulation pump
- Coolant pump switchover valve
