Electronic Ignition Lock Control Unit, Component Description - GF80.57-S-6001TRF
Model 447
with code XM0 (Facelift)
except code XM7 (MOPF II)
Location
The electronic ignition lock control unit (EZS) (N73) is located on the right, next to the steering column.
Task
The electronic ignition lock control unit (EZS) has the following tasks:
- Gateway (interface between CAN connections and serial bus)
- Reading in of signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Output of signals
- Power supply of transmitter key and data exchange with transmitter key
Gateway
The processor for controlling the gateway functions also acts as an interface between the following data bus systems:
- Interior CAN (CAN B)
- Diagnostic CAN (CAN D)
- Chassis CAN (CAN E)
- Front end CAN (CAN G)
- Serial bus (Serial bus)
Reading in of signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Interior CAN
- Diagnostic CAN
- Chassis CAN
- Front end CAN
- Serial bus
Direct line
The following signals are read in via a direct line:
- Terminal 30
- Circuit 30 (emergency battery supply)
- Status of left front door rotary tumbler microswitch (M14/3s1) in left front door central locking actuator (M14/3) (Left-hand drive vehicle)
- Signal to the DIRECT SELECT selector lever (S16/13) for position "P" in the case of battery failure (automatic transmission)
- FZV box (A122)
CAN connections
The signals are read in by the electronic ignition lock control unit (EZS) via CAN. The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated. Signals are output via the corresponding lines and CAN connections.
Serial bus
The electronic ignition lock control unit (EZS) is connected via the serial bus to the electric steering lock control unit (N26/5) and the FM, AM antenna amplifier (A2/18).
Power supply of transmitter key and data exchange with transmitter key
When the transmitter key (A8/1) is inserted into the electronic ignition lock control unit (EZS), it switches on the inductive power transmission to supply power to the transmitter key. Encrypted data is exchanged via infrared signals between the transmitter key and the electronic ignition lock control unit (EZS) for identification of the transmitter key.
