General
The PSM (Parameterizable Special Module) control unit serves as an interface, for example, between the on-board electronics and the retrofitted body electronics.
The PSM control unit provides access to various status information about the vehicle and vehicle functions (e.g. engine functions, actuation of vehicle illumination, central locking system) without intervention directly in the on-board electronics.
Function
The actual function of the PSM control unit (i.e. which signals are forwarded and how or which vehicle functions are actuated) is parameterized, hence the designation parameterizable special module.
Furthermore, it is possible to create custom functions for the vehicle by means of parameterization of the PSM control unit. Various modules are available to the user for this, such as a PLC software, an arithmetic unit and various interfaces (digital inputs and outputs, bus systems).
