General information
The steering column tube module control unit (1) controls the data exchange between the control elements on the multifunction steering wheel and the steering column with the corresponding control units.
Function
The steering column tube module control unit (1) is connected to the vehicle's network architecture. Depending on the model involved, the steering column tube module control unit (1) is networked with the steering wheel electronics.
To implement the functions, the steering column tube module control unit (1) processes information, including the following:
- Terminal status
- Engine running status
- Vehicle interior temperature
- Displayed outside temperature
- Operation request via multifunction steering wheel
- Steering wheel heater request (vehicles with steering wheel heater)
- Steering wheel heater temperature (vehicles with steering wheel heater)
The input parameters that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant component parts are then actuated. The steering column tube module control unit (1) sends, among other things, the following information:
- Status of steering wheel angle sensor
- Steering wheel angle, steering wheel velocity
- Operation request via multifunction steering wheel
- Operation request via combination switch
- Status of DIRECT SELECT lever (depending on model, vehicles with automatic transmission)
- Status of steering wheel heater (vehicles with steering wheel heater)
