	Remove/install
1	Switch off ignition
2	Remove heat shield above the transmission connector (4e)		AR27.10-S-0500-01E
3	Remove oil pan (3)	Cleanliness is essential when working on the transmission. Otherwise, even the smallest foreign particle in the hydraulic components of the transmission can lead to malfunctions or a total failure of the transmission. Do not use lint-free cleaning cloth for cleaning. Chamois leathers are the most suitable.	AR27.10-S-7030E
4	Remove oil filter (34)	Replace oil filter (34).
5	Detach 5-pin plug coupling from transmission connector (4e)	Clean transmission connector (4e) and 5-pin plug connection.	AR27.10-S-0500-01E
6	Remove fully integrated transmission control (VGS) electric controller unit (N15/11)	Carefully pry off a seized fully integrated transmission control (VGS) electric controller unit (N15/11) and with uncovered sealing surfaces using a suitable tool from the transmission housing (1). The sealing surfaces on the transmission housing (1) may otherwise be damaged. To do so, remove bolts (4s). Replace bolts (4s) and oil guide pipe (2). Insert oil guide pipe (2) before installation of fully integrated transmission control (VGS) electric controller unit (N15/11) into transmission housing (1).

		When inserting the fully integrated transmission control (VGS) electric controller unit (N15/11) ↓ Insert selector valve (4w) into driver of detent plate (82)

7	Install in the reverse order
	Check
8	Check transmission oil level; correct if necessary		AR27.00-S-0270E
9	Read out fault memory with diagnostic system
		Clear existing errors.	AD00.00-S-2000-04E
10	Perform transmission adaptation using diagnostic system
	Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.	Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.	AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
11	Test run engine and check transmission for leaktightness and proper operation	Shift through the gears of the transmission a few times before putting into service in order to flush any air pockets out of the fully integrated transmission control (VGS) electric controller unit (N15/11).
