	Remove/install
1	Remove driver's airbag from steering wheel.	Model 214, 254 with code 266 (DISTRONIC PLUS with Cross-Traffic Assist (DTR+Q)) with code L5C (Supersport steering wheel - leather deep-embossed) Model 214 with code 266 (DISTRONIC PLUS with Cross-Traffic Assist (DTR+Q)) with code L2B (Leather luxury steering wheel) Model 254 with code 266 (DISTRONIC PLUS with Cross-Traffic Assist (DTR+Q)) with code L3E (Sport steering wheel - smooth split leather)	AR91.60-P-0663WT

2	Remove bolts (1).	Model 254 with code 266 (DISTRONIC PLUS with Cross-Traffic Assist (DTR+Q)) with code L3E (Sport steering wheel - smooth split leather) Model 254 with code 266 (DISTRONIC PLUS with Cross-Traffic Assist (DTR+Q)) with code L5C (Supersport steering wheel - leather deep-embossed) Screw, mounting plate/contact plate to steering wheel	*BA46.10-P-1002-02C

3	Remove mounting plate (2) and release and disconnect electrical connector (3).	Make sure that the electrical connector (3) engages correctly.
4	Remove washers of screws (1).	If washers are installed.
5	Unclip hand detection system control unit (N179) from steering wheel electronics (N135).
6	Release and disconnect electrical connectors (4) at hand detection system control unit (N179) and remove hand detection system control unit (N179).	Do not crush or kink or subject electric lines to tension. This will result in damage to the electric lines and can impair their function. Ensure that electrical connectors (4) engage correctly. Ensure that routing of lines is correct.
7	Install in the reverse order.
	Concluding tasks
8	Connect vehicle diagnosis system and perform commissioning.	When replacing hand detection system control unit (N179).

9	Perform function test of steering wheel buttons.
