WARNING Risk of injury  to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing coolant. Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the overpressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Perform commissioning of engine management control unit (N3/10). When replacing engine management control unit (N3/10).  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-06FR
2 Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmitter range (min. 2 m).    
3 Remove fan unit.   AR20.40-P-5050SC
4 Attach radiator guard plate.    
REFER TO SHOP-MADE TOOLS     WF58.50-P-0110-04A
5 Remove coolant hose (1) from the lower coolant expansion reservoir of the low-temperature circuit, place to one side and collect escaping coolant using suitable means.   AR20.20-P-7441-01RQ
6 Release and disconnect electrical connectors (2).    
7 Remove screws (3). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, engine wiring harness to ME-SFI [ME] control unit *BA15.18-P-1004-01G 
8 Unscrew screw (4). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw, ME-SFI control unit to crankcase holder *BA15.18-P-1009-01G 
9 Lower steering gear.   AR46.20-P-0500S
10 Remove coolant hoses from coolant connections (5) at engine management control unit (N3/10) and collect escaping coolant with suitable means.   AR20.20-P-7441-01RQ
11 Pull engine management control unit (N3/10) toward front out of bracket and remove upwards. INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Wet elastomer bearings at bracket of engine management control unit (N3/10) with lubricant.

INSPECT Check     
12 Check elastomer bearings for damage. If there is a problem,

replace respective elastomer bearing.
 
13 Remove brackets at engine management control unit (N3/10). When replacing engine management control unit (N3/10).
TORQUE SPECIFICATION M6x1

    TORQUE SPECIFICATION M5x0.8 *BA00.10-P-1001-03A 
14 Install in the reverse order.    
  Concluding tasks     
15 Connect diagnostic system, read out fault memory and clear if necessary. Where engine management control unit will be reused (N3/10).  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-06FR
WARNING Risk of burn injuries  , suffocation and poisoning when working on the exhaust system and the components connected to it. Risk of suffocation and risk of poisoning caused by inhalation of gaseous and solid components of the exhaust. Risk of poisoning  caused by skin contact with solid components of the exhaust. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. Use the extraction system. Move people out of the danger zone. AS49.00-Z-0001-01A
WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
16 Perform engine test run. While doing so, check engine for proper operation and leak tightness.
