Brush & Spring Test
- Connect ohmmeter between positive brush holder and negative brush holder. If ohmmeter indicates continuity, replace brush holder assembly.
- Measure brush length. See STARTER MOTOR SPECIFICATIONS
table. If brush length is less than specification, replace brushes.
- Measure spring tension. Spring tension should be 2.2-4.4 lbs. (1-2 kg). Ensure brushes move freely in holders.
