Test C: Single Power Window Inoperative
- Check Driver Door Master Window Switch - Check driver door master window switch. See POWER WINDOW MASTER SWITCH under COMPONENT TESTS. If driver door master window switch is defective replace switch. Retest system operation. If driver door master window switch is okay, go to next step.
- Check Window Motor - Check operation of power window motor in question. See POWER WINDOW MOTOR under COMPONENT TESTS. If power window motor is defective, replace motor and retest system operation. If power window motor is okay, go to next step.
- Check Driver Door Master Window Switch Ground Circuit - Turn ignition off. Disconnect driver door master window switch connector C509. See POWER WINDOW MASTER SWITCH R & I under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between ground and driver door master window switch connector C509 Black wire terminal. If resistance is less than 5 ohms and problem is with left door window, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms and problem is with right door window, go to step 5). If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black wire. Retest system operation.
- Check Circuits For Opens Or Shorts To Ground - Turn ignition off. Disconnect driver door master window switch connector C509 and left door window motor connector. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance of Blue/Red wire and Purple wire between driver door master window switch connector C509 and left door window motor connector. Resistance should be less than 5 ohms. Check resistance between ground and driver door master window switch connector C509 Blue/Red and Purple wires. Resistance should be more than 10 k/ohms. If resistances are as specified, go to next step. If resistances are not as specified, repair open or short to ground in appropriate wire(s). Retest system operation.
- Check Power Supply To Right Door Window Switch - Turn ignition off. Disconnect right door window switch connector C608. See SINGLE POWER WINDOW SWITCH R & I under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using a voltmeter, check voltage between ground and right door window switch connector C608 Orange/Black wire terminal. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair Orange/Black wire and retest system operation.
- Check Right Door Window Switch - Check right door window switch operation. See SINGLE POWER WINDOW SWITCH under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch is defective, replace switch and retest system operation. If switch is okay, go to next step.
- Check Circuits For Opens Or Shorts To Ground - Turn ignition off. Disconnect driver door master window switch connector C509 and right door window switch connector C608. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance of Light Green/Black wire and Orange/Blue wire between driver door master window switch connector C509 and right door window switch connector C608. Resistance should be less than 5 ohms. Check resistance between ground and driver door master window switch connector C509 Light Green/Black and Orange/Blue wires. Resistance should be more than 10 k/ohms. If resistances are as specified, go to next step. If resistances are not as specified, repair open or short to ground in appropriate wire(s). Retest system operation.
- Check Circuits For Opens Or Shorts To Ground - Turn ignition off. Disconnect right door window switch connector C608 and right door window motor connector. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance of Blue/Orange wire and Blue/Yellow wire between right door window switch connector C608 and right door window motor connector. Resistance should be less than 5 ohms. Check resistance between ground and right door window switch connector C608 Blue/Orange and Blue/Yellow wires. Resistance should be more than 10 k/ohms. If resistances are as specified, replace right door window motor and retest system operation. If resistances are not as specified, repair open or short to ground in appropriate wire(s). Retest system operation.
