Normal Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Mercury Monterey and 2004 Ford Freestar. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Two versions of this system are available, reverse parking aid with four sensors (rear only), and parking aid with eight sensors (four additional front sensors). Both type of parking aid modules communicate with the diagnostic tool through the ISO 9141 communications network circuit 70 (LB/WH). If circuit 70 (LB/WH) becomes open or shorted to ground, communications to that module will not be possible. Check circuit 70 (LB/WH) between the parking aid module C4014 (8 sensor) or C4226 (4 sensor), and the DLC C251. Total resistance values must not be more than 5 ohms. If the resistance is more than 5 ohms, there is an open in circuit 70 (LB/WH), damage to the DLC C251, damage to the parking aid module connector, or a problem in the in-line connectors.
