Key Programming - Erase All Keys & Program 2 Keys
NOTE:
This procedure is used when a customer needs encoded ignition keys programmed into system and 2 programmed encoded ignition keys are not available or lost, or when ignition switch assembly has been replaced. This procedure will erase all programmed encoded ignition keys from memory and prevent vehicle from starting until 2 encoded ignition keys have been programmed. If additional encoded ignition key(s) are to be programmed, perform KEY PROGRAMMING - USING 2 PROGRAMMED KEYS
. If remaining encoded ignition keys are with customer and not with vehicle, instruct customer to see owner's manual on how to program spare encoded ignition key(s).
- Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Insert Ford Service Function (FSF) card into NGS tester. Turn ignition switch from OFF to ON position. Using NGS tester, select PCM from menu. Perform security access procedure to obtain security access. See KEY PROGRAMMING - SECURITY ACCESS PROCEDURE .
- After security access procedure has been completed, a new menu will be displayed with command options. Select IGNITION KEY CODE ERASE. Turn ignition switch to OFF position and disconnect NGS tester. Insert first encoded ignition key into ignition lock cylinder. Turn ignition switch to ON position for 3 seconds. Turn ignition switch to OFF position and remove first encoded ignition key.
- Within 5 seconds, insert second encoded ignition key into ignition lock cylinder. Turn ignition switch to ON position for 3 seconds. Turn ignition switch to OFF position and remove second encoded ignition key. Both encoded ignition keys should now start vehicle.
