Symptom Table - Navigation

SYMPTOM TABLE - NAVIGATION

Condition Possible Sources Action
  • No global positioning system (GPS) antenna signal
  • GPS antenna
  • Audio unit
  • Navigation screen only displays Dearborn, Michigan

  • The position cursor is inoperative/inaccurate
  • Vehicle speed signal (VSS)
  • GPS antenna

  • The audible switch feedback is inoperative

  • Unable to read map disc
  • Map DVD
  • Audio unit
  • REMOVE the map DVD and CLEAN it. INSPECT for scratches, fingerprints, or damage. If the map DVD is damaged, REPLACE the map DVD. If no damage is found, INSERT a known good map DVD. TEST the system.
    • If the system operates correctly, the concern was caused by a damaged or inoperable map DVD.
    • If the system does not operate correctly, REMOVE the audio unit and SEND it to an authorized audio system repair facility. REFER to AUDIO UNIT . TEST the system for normal operation after the repair.
  • The screen does not open/close
  • Trim panel interference
  • Audio unit
  • INSPECT the instrument panel center trim panel for interference with the navigation screen, and REPAIR as necessary. If no interference is found, REMOVE the audio unit and SEND it to an authorized audio system repair facility. REFER to AUDIO UNIT . TEST the system for normal operation after the repair.
  • The voice guidance is inoperative/does not operate correctly

  • The display screen is inoperative

  • VERIFY the operation of the AM/FM audio.
    • If the AM/FM audio system does not operate correctly, GO to SYMPTOM TABLE - AUDIO SYSTEM .
    • If the AM/FM audio system operates correctly, REMOVE the audio unit and SEND it to an authorized audio system repair facility. REFER to AUDIO UNIT . TEST the system for normal operation after the repair.
