65 77... Overhaul solution for OC3 mat

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

WARNING: To avoid damaging the OC3 mat, it is essential to carry out the following operations with extra care.
  • Do not kink OC3 mat.
  • Handle OC3 mat with extreme care.
NOTE: The following work steps of the overhaul solution for the OC3 mat relate to the entrance side from the front passenger seat.

Unclip cover (1) on front seat.

Sport seat version: 

Release screws (1). If necessary, detach plug connections (2). Remove thigh support (3).

Sport seat version: 

NOTE: Operation shown on driver's seat by way of example.

Unhook seat cover (1) in marked area on exit side. Lever out clip (2).

Installation:  If necessary, replace defective clips (2).

Detach seat cover (1) in marked area at all fastening points.

IMPORTANT:

Padding must not be damaged. Fold back seat cover (1) at side. Carefully detach OC3 mat (2) from side section of padding. If necessary, cut off OC3 mat (2) with a heavy-duty scalpel without damaging the padding.

IMPORTANT:

Do not damage strip conductors of OC3 mat. Carefully cut off protruding material (1) of OC3 mat above contour (2).

Fold back OC3 mat (1). Stick double-sided adhesive tape (2) to padding (3). Pull protective film off double-side adhesive tape (2).

Pulling gently, stick OC3 mat (1) to side section.

Stick fleece (1) in area of OC3 mat to side section. Note: Stick fleece (1) to side section edge (2) so that it is flush. Assemble front seat.

Enabling seat occupancy detection (OC3 mat):  Connect BMW diagnosis system. Release seat occupancy detector. Clear fault memory if necessary.
