84 11 627 Removing And Installing/Replacing Telematic Control Unit (TCU) (Option SA633/SA638/SA639/SA664)

IMPORTANT:

    Replacement with option SA638/SA664: 

  • Carry out PROGRAMMING/CODING
  • If necessary, carry out coupling procedure

    Replacement with option SA633/SA639: 

  • Carry out PROGRAMMING/CODING
  • Via Diagnosis and Information System (DIS):
    • Service functions
    • Start subsequent assessment

    Replacement with option SA633/SA638/SA639/SA664: 

  • Remove sticker (Bluetooth passkey) from front of TCU and stick to Service Booklet insert
IMPORTANT:

Read and comply with notes on PROTECTION AGAINST ELECTROSTATIC DAMAGE (ESD PROTECTION)

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Disconnect plug connection (1, 2).

Release screws (3) and remove TCU (4).

Installation: 

Note colour coding of antenna plugs.

Replace 54-pin plug housing with a new one.

Raise lock (1) on housing (2).

Push both contact carriers (3) from rear out of housing.

Replacement with option SA633 or SA639/SA664 (build date 03/2005-09/2006): 

Connect adapter leads (1) between main wiring harness (2) and TCU (3).

Resecure TCU (3).

Installation: 

Secure protruding lead parts with suitable adhesive tape in order to prevent rattling noises.
