84 11 627 Removing and Installing/Replacing Telematic Control Unit (TCU) (Option SA633/SA638/SA639/SA664)

Replacement with option SA633/SA638/SA639/SA664:
- Remove sticker (Bluetooth passkey) from front of TCU and stick to Service Booklet insert
IMPORTANT:
Read and comply with notes on protection against electrostatic damage (ESD protection)

Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Disconnect battery negative lead . See 12 00 ... INSTRUCTIONS FOR DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING BATTERY .
- Remove and install left luggage compartment wheel arch trim. See 51 47 151 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LEFT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT WHEEL ARCH TRIM .
Disconnect plug connection (1, 2).
Release screws (3) and remove TCU (4).
Installation:
Note color coding of antenna plugs.
Replace 54-pin plug housing* with a new one.
* Sourcing reference: BMW Parts Service
Raise lock (1) on housing (2).
Push both contact carriers (3) from rear out of housing.
Replacement with option SA633 or SA639/SA664 (build date 03/2005-09/2006):
Connect adapter leads* (1) between main wiring harness (2) and TCU (3).
* Sourcing reference: BMW Parts Service Resecure TCU (3).
Installation:
Secure protruding lead parts with suitable adhesive tape in order to prevent rattling noises.
