32 31 095 Removing And Installing / Replacing Steering Column Control Unit (CIM)

IMPORTANT:
To avoid damaging the control unit, make sure when installing that the baseplate is not subjected to tension.
After installation:
- Replacement only: Initialize steering column using BMW diagnosis system (control unit functions)
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove panel for (active) knee protector . See 51 45 177 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING PANEL FOR ACTIVE KNEE PROTECTOR ON LEFT .
Disconnect plug connection.
Release screws and remove steering column control unit.
Tightening torque. See STEERING AND WHEEL ALIGNMENT - TIGHTENING TORQUES - ALPINA .
