61 11... Replacing wiring harness at front left

Remove front bumper trim.

Remove wheel arch cover at front left.

If necessary, remove horn (anti-theft device).

Remove driver's seat.

Disconnect battery negative lead.

Remove lower left trim from instrument panel.

Remove footwell side trim panel on A-pillar on left.

Remove adapter plate.

Remove storage tray.

Release cable strap (1).

Release screws (2) and remove plate (3).

CAUTION: Under not circumstances bend carpet.

Cut carpet (1) as illustrated as closely as possible to A/C unit.

Installation: 

Join cutting lines at marked points (2) with cable ties (short) from repair kit.

Cut carpet (1) as illustrated and remove from car.

Installation: 

Join cutting lines at marked points (2) with cable ties (short) from repair kit.

CAUTION: Vehicles with tire pressure control (RDC):
Unwind operational RDC lead from wiring harness.
Replace faulty RDC lead separately (refer to ).

Cut through wiring harness (1) approx. 10 cm before splash shield and pull back from inside into footwell.

Detach cut wiring harness from engine compartment and remove.

General information: 

Information on assigning the repair connectors are contained in the DIS under the heading Component and signal information / pin, fan and solder connectors / connectors from X1... / X18985 - X18992.

Installation: 

The cable ties and foam supports contained in the repair kit are for securing the repair plugs.

Fit all cut leads of main wiring harness with stop parts. Pin in leads in accordance with schematic in DIS.

Strip insulation from cable.

Crimp stop parts.

Connect precrimped leads to corresponding plugs (refer to ). Cut off and insulate unpinned leads.

Installation/removal of multiple connector systems.

Replace cable ties that have been cut open.

Installation: 

Stick foam supports (1) from repair kit as illustrated to both pipe carriers.

Secure repair plugs (2) with long cable tie (3) from repair kit to lower pipe carrier.
