54 34... Opening/Closing Convertible Top In Event Of a Technical Fault

IMPORTANT:

Always conduct convertible top movements with the assistance of a second person (risk of damage).

Make sure force is always exerted uniformly to the convertible top sides otherwise the frame will be bent.

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Front doors must be permanently opened
Lower rear side windows fully

Opening convertible top in event of a technical fault:

Unlocking convertible top compartment lid:

Open rear lid
Pop actuator button (1) on left and right out of luggage compartment trim panel.
Pull actuator button (1) on left and right and unlock convertible top compartment lid.
Close rear lid.

Unlocking convertible top lock:

Lever out cover (1) with plastic wedge
Insert double offset hexagon socket (on-board tool kit) and drive with ball of hand onto attachment until coupling can be felt to engage
Release lock completely by turning counterclockwise
If necessary, refit cover (1).

Stowing convertible top by hand:

Contact points at guide rails (1) and clamping bar (2)
Raise convertible top bow and clamping bar

Stowing convertible top by hand:

Open convertible top compartment lid (1) slowly

IMPORTANT: Risk of damage! Check following status without fail after opening convertible top compartment lid.

Roller for crash protection must not be extended.

Left half of picture = roller extended = incorrect
Right half of picture = roller retracted = correct

If roller is extended, close and then open convertible top compartment lid again.

If necessary, repeat procedure.

Stowing convertible top by hand:

Stow clamping bar (2) in convertible top compartment
Fold convertible top (1) and stow in convertible top compartment
Close convertible top compartment lid

Closing convertible top in event of a technical fault:

Unlocking convertible top compartment lid:

Open rear lid
Pop actuator button (1) on left and right out of luggage compartment trim panel.
Pull actuator button (1) on left and right and unlock convertible top compartment lid.
Close rear lid.

Lifting convertible top by hand out of convertible top compartment:

Open convertible top compartment lid.
Contact points at convertible top bows and clamping bar
Lift convertible top bows and clamping bar uniformly on left and right

Unfold convertible top uniformly on left and right

Lift clamping bar out of convertible top compartment
Close convertible top compartment lid

Uniformly press clamping bar onto convertible top compartment lid
Press convertible top bow onto cowl panel and simultaneously fasten convertible top lock

Fastening convertible top lock:

Lever out cover (1) with plastic wedge
Insert double offset hexagon socket (on-board tool kit) and drive with ball of hand onto attachment until coupling can be felt to engage
Fasten lock completely by turning clockwise
Refit cover (1).
