For convertible top removal the universal lifting gear must be combined with individual tools specifically suitable for the E88.

NOTE: Observe operating instructions for universal lifting gear without fail.

Lifting gear:

The lifting gear 54 3 240 comprises the following individual parts:

54 3 241 Longitudinal tube with lifting eye and screws
54 3 242 Cross-beam
54 3 243 Extension arm, left and right

in conjunction with:

54 3 250 Adapter with chain and hook, left and right
54 3 260 Adapter with counterholder, left and right
54 3 270 Shaped piece for counterholder, left and right

IMPORTANT: Use lifting gear and assembly carrier only in conjunction with BMW WJN.10 workshop crane (special lifting arm with 1690 mm arm length - refer to BMW Workshop Equipment Catalogue) or a crane with comparable specifications.

Adjustments of lifting tool especially for E88:

Adjust lifting eye measured two holes from rear on longitudinal tube.

Secure adjustment with ball locking pin.

Adjust left and right extension arms measured eight holes from outside on cross-beam.

Secure adjustment with ball locking pin.

Adjust adapter with chain (1) in specified hole on extension arm.

Secure adjustment with ball locking pin.

Adjust adapter with counterholder (2) measured four holes from adapter chain on extension arm.

Secure adjustment with ball locking pin.
