61 35 076 Removing and installing/replacing control unit for backrest width adjustment

NOTE:

Special Tools Required: 

  • 52 0 050
IMPORTANT: Read and comply with notes on protection against electrostatic damage (ESD protection). Refer to 61 35 ... NOTES ON ESD PROTECTION (ELECTRO STATIC DISCHARGE) .

Necessary Preliminary Tasks: 

Unclip cover (1) on front seat.

Release screws (1) on thigh support.

Disconnect plug connection (2).

Remove thigh support (3) towards top.

Installation: 

Insert screws (1) with Loctite.

Unclip trim (1) for thigh support carrier.

Detach seat cover (1).

Tilt back seat cover (1) with padding towards middle of vehicle.

Loosen retainers (1).

Tilt back thigh support (2) towards rear.

Remove all remnants of clips from seat cover and seat mechanism.

Installation: 

Bend new retainers closed with pliers (52 0 050).

Release screw (1) under tilted-up seat padding.

Unlock plug connections (2) and disconnect.

Remove control unit for backrest width adjustment (3) towards bottom.

Replacement: 

Carry out programming/coding. Refer to DIAGNOSIS PROGRAMMING/CODING .
