61 35 196 Removing and installing (replacing) control unit for automatic operation of tailgate system

Necessary preliminary work 

NOTE: From 09/2010, the control unit is installed with a different placement of connector chambers:

(2) control unit to 09/2010

(1) control unit from 09/2010

Replacement:

When control unit (1) is installed in vehicles with a production date up to 09/2010, the styrofoam projections (3) must be removed completely. Remove piece (A) = approx. 12 mm from styrofoam projection (4).

IMPORTANT: Do not remove styrofoam projection (4) completely.

Unlock plug connections (1) and disconnect.

Remove control unit for automatic operation of tailgate system (2) upwards.

Installation note: 

Make sure the control unit for automatic operation of tailgate system (2) is correctly seated.

Replacement: 

Carry out VEHICLE PROGRAMMING/ENCODING .
