Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Disconnect negative battery cable. See 61 20 900 DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING BATTERY NEGATIVE LEAD .
- Remove trim for instrument panel, bottom right . See 51 45 181 REMOVING AND INSTALLING INSTRUMENT PANEL TRIM AT BOTTOM RIGHT .
Unlock catch (1) in direction of arrow.
Pull safety information module (2) out of control unit carrier (3) slightly.
Unlock plug connections (4) and disconnect.
Remove safety information module (2).
Replacement:
Carry out coding/programming. See VEHICLE PROGRAMMING AND CODING .
