Purpose of the System

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2008 MINI Cooper, 2007 MINI Cooper, 2006 MINI Cooper, 2005 MINI Cooper, and 2004 MINI Cooper. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The multiple restraint system 5 (MRS 5) provides enhanced passive protection for vehicle occupants in the event of a serious collision. The system is regarded as passive in the respect that it operates automatically without interactions by the vehicle occupants.

It differs from the previous MRS4 system in that reaction time is decreased and accuracy increased due to the addition of the door pressure sensors and up front sensors.
