17 11 370 Removing And Installing/Replacing Cooling Loop For Hydraulic Steering (N55, N57 D30 U/O/T 0/1)
Only perform this repair work after engine has cooled down.
Cover alternator with suitable materials.
Failure to comply with this procedure may result in an alternator malfunction.
Necessary preliminary work:
- Remove fan cowl . See 17 11 035 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING FAN COWL WITH ELECTRIC FAN (N57 D30 U/O/T 0/1) or 17 11 035 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING FAN COWL WITH ELECTRIC FAN (N55) .
Release screws (1) on left and right from cover (3).
Tightening torque: 17 10 1AZ .
Release screws (2) behind sealing lip.
Tightening torque: 17 10 1AZ .
Lift out cover (3).
Remove circlips (1).
Unlock lines (2) and detach from cooling loop.
Press in latch mechanisms (3) and pull cooling loop upwards.
Installation note:
Reinstall circlips.
Release lock (1) in direction of arrow.
Lift out oil cooling loop (2).
After completing this repair work, check the oil level in the oil reservoir of hydraulic steering. See 32 13 006 BLEEDING POWER STEERING (VERSION WITH DYNAMIC DRIVE) or 32 13 006 BLEEDING POWER STEERING UNIT .
If Dynamic Drive is fitted in the vehicle, execute START-UP WITH A TEST RUN .
Reassemble the vehicle.
Check hydraulic steering for leak tightness.
