41 11 091 Replacing engine support in front of bulkhead, left

Observe procedure for REPAIR STAGE 3 .

Read contents of BODY, GENERAL .

Use only an approved SPOT-WELDING APPARATUS  for repairs!

Place vehicle on straightening bench.

The following new parts are required:

Removal 

Open WELDED CONNECTIONS  in areas (1) and (2).

3 panels are welded in area (2). Open WELDED CONNECTION  for both outer panels.

Open WELDED CONNECTIONS  in areas (1).

Mark severance cut (1) according to schematic diagram in accordance with specified dimension and cut.

Dimension (A) = 5 mm.

Release WELDED CONNECTIONS  in areas (2) and (3) and remove engine support.

Three panels are welded in areas (3). Open WELDED CONNECTION  for both outer panels.

New part preparation 

Attention  !

Cut outer panel only.

Mark severance cut (1) in accordance with severance cut on vehicle and cut.

Open WELDED CONNECTIONS  in areas (2). Remove part section (3).

Prepare REINFORCEMENT PLATE  (4) for severance cut (1).

Adjust new parts to fit with alignment bracket or universal mounting.

NOTE: Inner part of engine support new part is hidden for a better overview.

Wheel arch support (1), engine support outer part (2) and front axle support fixture (3) must be welded together in areas (4) using PLUG WELDING  method.

Transfer and drill holes (4) (open WELDED CONNECTIONS ) on new part engine support outer part (2).

Do not spot-drill or drill through front axle support fixture (3)!

Prepare new parts and reinforcement plate (1) in the areas (2) for joining by welding.

NOTE: The component "front axle support fixture" is located in the areas (1) and (2). Refer to Fig 6.
NOTE: The component "front axle support fixture" must be welded in the areas (1) and (2) using PLUG WELDING  method.

Transfer and drill holes (3) (open WELDED CONNECTIONS ) on new part engine support outer part.

In areas (2) set one Ø 8 mm bore hole each. The positions of the bore holes (2) can be found on the removed part and need to be transferred to the new part.

Do not spot-drill or drill through front axle support fixture!

In the remaining areas (4), prepare new parts for joining by welding.

In areas (1), prepare new parts for joining by welding.

Installation 

Install new parts and reinforcement plate to fit with alignment bracket or universal fixture.

Weld new parts in areas (1) and (2).
